Information about Classes
Kathak lessons for kids aged 6 years old and up or adults available in Ballantyne area of Charlotte, NC. Enrolling students now at all levels. Please call Ashwini at (980) 895-1472 or email if you have any questions about enrolling in classes.
Current classes with open enrollment:

Enrollment Process:
YOU MUST COMPLETE ALL 3 STEPS

STEP 2. Submit the online student information form to enroll for classes
STEP 3. New batches will start in August or January.
If you enrolled in a class that is ready to start you will get further instructions before the first class. If you enrolled in the waitlist you will be contacted when there is a class suitable for you
YOU MUST PRINT THE CLASS POLICY DOCUMENT, INITIAL AND SIGN ONE COPY, AND BRING THE COMPLETED DOCUMENT TO THE FIRST CLASS
When you come to the class:
- Students are expected to dress appropriately for classes - Salwar Kurti or leggings and tunic top with dupatta are acceptable.
- Hair should be neatly tied back in a pony tail or braid.
- Students should bring a notebook for taking notes.
- Students are expected to practice weekly lessons at home. How fast students progress is highly dependent on consistent effort and practice.
- If students cannot make it to a scheduled class they should inform Ashwini ahead of time. Make up classes may be offered solely at Ashwini's discretion.
- Parents are kindly requested not to stay in the class during lessons as this is distracting to the students. Periodically parents will have oportunities to observe the class
Order Ghungaroos
Ghungaroos are available from AKDA. You can order your ghungaroos by sending an email to billing@ashwinigogate.com
Ghungaroos come in three options (based on number of bells per ghungaroo), please specify in your email which number of ghungaroos per string you need. Ask Ashwini if you are not sure what to order.
- 25/per chain ghungaroos ($40) - suitable for small children and beginners
- 50/per chain ghungaroos ($60) - suitable for intermediate students
- 100/per chain ghungaroos ($100) - suitable for adults and advanced students
If you want to buy ghungaroos from elsewhere make sure they are meeting certain requirements. The ghungaroos (bells) should be be #14 size and they should be on a string not stitched on a belt.
